Post subject: Cannot write any text in any program after Messenger
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>messenger (more info?)

Hello
I need help on this.
I live in Minnesota. My friend lives in Peru. We were
sharing application on messenger. I was being funny and
went to write in her messenger box a message for me. Just
to make sure you understand. I shared her windows screen
with apllication sharing, and I wrote a message on her
desktop in messenger. After that , with a bad
connection,, she could not write any more. When she
writes, numbers come out.. like for example, when she
writes the word computer, it looks like this c60*4ter

she says only the right side of her keyboard on her
laptop is putting numbers when it should be putting words.
The left side is ok with the letters she picks.

this problem happens in other programs, documents, text.
This just happened after the messenger. She tried
shutting her machine of, installing new software,,
everything,, but same problem.

Any help on this, please write me at collebra.DeleteThis@yahoo.com

thanks in advance

Greetings jp,

It sounds like her "num lock" has been engaged on her keyboard (it's usually off for laptop's
because the keys are on the actual keyboard [on her right side] but on desktop keyboards is
on by default). All she needs to do is press the "Num Lock" button on her laptop and
keyboard and she'll be back to normal.
