Post subject: vista doesn't recognise device
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>security (more info?)

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Samsung SGH-U600 mobile phone. The phonetools
that come with the phone and the drivers on the software CD are not
compatible with win Vista so I downloaded the appropriate software/drivers
from the Samsung website. I loaded PC Studio 3 and installed the drivers.
However, when I connected the phone via the data usb cable (supplied with
the phone) I got a message did not recognise USB device and then the pc
studio software fires up with an error message COM server registration
failed. Please restart the system. When I click on the text bubble that says
unrecognised usb device, a list of ports appears (10 root ports) and at port
#5 it is highlighted Unknown Device (presumably my phone). Another thing
that happens is that I get a windows error message saying that Launcher.exe
failed to start. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the software and drivers a
dozen times and nothing seems to work. I really do need this to work as all
of my important contacts/data etc is on my pc.

I know that a lot of you will say take this up with Samsung but I cannot
locate a number for Samsung UK tech help.

I have the same problem with my phone to (SGH-A411), does it come up
with "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The
driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" in the driver details?

Would anyone be able to help?

I have been to that site and downloaded the vista versions and installed
but it still comes up with the same thing.

Any other help to fix the problem would be much appreciated.

It is probably time to call support, I tried to use their FAQ on your
behalf - no joy I'm afraid.

I have the same problem as ''T5''. Vista doesn't recognize the phone
(SGH U600). But i can see the files when i open downloaded 'Samsung PC
Studio 3'. I wrote about this in forum: 'Bloodhound.Exploit.13'. Norton
AV was showing this message. And i couldn't edit pictures with
WinPhotoGallery. I have changed antivirus to Kaspersky, doesn't show
bloodhount.exploit.13, but still can't edit pictures with WinPhGal. I
tried other programs- worked with 'Microsoft Office Picture Manager'.

Did you download the drivers for you CDMA phone? Go to the phone
manufacture's web site and look for the drivers there.
