Hi,

Backup as an image that includes the programs. Some versions of Vista
include this feature, for others you need a third party program.

Vista "Complete PC Backup" does just that - backs up "everything" on the
computer. Complete PC Backup not avaialbale on Vista Home and Premium
versions - however file backup is included.

Hi,

No, System Restore is not an image. An image is a snapshot of the hard drive
in its current state. When you use an image backup, you get everything back
as it was at that point in time. That's not so good for any files that you
have updated, or added since the image. System Restore brings back a recent
system state and allows for recovery of recent shadow copies of individual
files. PC Backup is another method for saving data files in the state they
were in at the time of creation. Which method you use is basically up to
you.
