Post subject: Can remote desktop block access to target pc after it is disconnec
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>work_remotely (more info?)

Hi,

This may be a strange one. I remote desktop to pcs within our network a
quite a bit; the pcs are all on XP Pro SP2. Last night I performed a remote
desktop to a pc (target) to do some work, and disconnected afterwards. This
morning I come into the office and the target monitor is blocked. That is, I
can't see the login prompt, etc.. I know the target machine is active
because I can do a remote desktop to it from another pc and everything is
fine within the remote desktop window. Also, when I reboot the target
machine all the various messages show on the monitor, even the XP screen.
However, after completing boot the monitor is blank again. It's almost like
the remote login service never let go of the target pc. Any thoughts?
