why can't i send e-mails?

The problem occured a few hours ago. i did not change the options in my
e-mail program since months. now i can get e-mails, but i cannot send!

I use windows mail, but i set up my account in outlook, too. unfortunately
the same result.

What can i do? (my operation system is vista)

You can tell us what happens when you try to send. Do you get any error
messages? If you do, please post them word for word.
