I'm using Windows XP sp2, and i've google'd around for the last two
hours trying to solve this problem i have with a bunch of my music
album folders, where the folder.jpg file has become invisible...
When i say invisible files, i mean as in - NOT hidden files, and not
lost files, or accidentally deleted...
but in two of my music folder's; sub-folders... all the "folder.jpg"
files are completely invisible... by which i mean, they don't show in
windows explorer or even the browse explorer pop-up thing (when ya
browse to a location to save)...
yet the files are definately still in there because when i go to save a
new "folder.jpg" in there, the computer tells me, there is already a
file called "folder.jpg" in this folder, do you want to overwrite?...
it's wierd and freaking me out somewhat... also, the pics themselves
actually appear on the folders like they are supposed to (in thumbnail
view) despite the fact that i have the option set to don't cache
thumbnails, so it's definately reading the pic's off the drive...
so in short, the files are there, the computer knows they are there,
but the computer is not showing me they are there...
it's only my "folder.jpg"s that are affected, any other pictures (in
any format be it .jpg .bmp etc) that happen to be within the folders
are still there, absolutely fine
maybe a picture explains better than i do..
[image:

every album in my hip hop folder is affected and i have another
genre/folder affected by this also where every album is affected...
but then i also have over a dozen genres/folders completely
unaffected...
i've also tried setting the folder view to others views instead of
THUMBNAIL such as TILES, ICONS, LIST & DETAILS... with no joy, the same
problem persists
i've found people with similar problems, but related to vista and
wmp11, where a .wmpdb file is causing the problem (windows media
database i'm assuming).... i don't use or have either of them, so i
don't think it can be the same problem (but maybe it's something very
similar)
anyway... anybody had this, know whats wrong, know a fix???
all help and pointers will be much appreciated
thanx for reading
