files won't open

When I try to open AVG 8.5,Firefox,just about anything on the desk top a window pops up and asks me what I want to open it with. I have no idea why this is doing this or what to open these files with. I have windows xp. Any help? Thanks Matt

Try the "LNK (Shortcut) File Association Fix" from this web-site. (halfway down the page)

Unzip the file, then double click on it.
