Hi, my problem is that occasionly the display just starts to "going from
side to side" in a very high speed so it is not possible to read the display
anymore, it could also just be distorted in some kind of displacement of the
pixels... it looks like every "vertical line" of pixels have been displaced a
bit, also making the display unreadable.
I have a Dell XPS M1210 with an integrated Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express
Chipset. I think it might be the drivers for the 945GM thats causing this,
but I installed the lastest drivers. I also tested to install those from
dell, which was a bit older, but they had the same problem. I can't get any
support on this from dell, since the computer came with windows XP. I have a
dual-boot system (with XP), but I don't think that has anything to do with
it. I can also mention that during these errors everything else seams to work
fine, and the errors doesn't come up when I do something in particular.

I hope theres someone who can help me with this, it's quite annoying...

So the question begs to be asked
XP video drivers under XP................Vista video drivers under Vista????
does XP have this problem?? or just Vista??

Does this happen only in Vista - i.e. never in your XP boot? If you haven't
been running XP much since installing the dual boot that might be worth
checking. It would help narrow a driver vs. hardware issue.

Barring that, it sounds more like a hardware problem than drivers. I
suspect the monitor, although the integrated video is also a possibility.
Sometimes motherboard video overheating may cause this type of problem
though usually when running games or other high level graphics. Since this
is intermittent it may be difficult to trouble shoot. If possible, try
using a different monitor for a while and see if it recurs.

This only occurs in vista, I've had Xp installed for about one year, and
I've never encountered this problem in XP. Vista has only been installed
during the summer. It's kidn of hard to use another display, since I don't
have any other good display which I can use for the moment and the problem
occurs quite seldom. So even if I connect another display for a while I can't
be sure if it's gone or not unless it occurs on the other display.
