devise installer error

Have you tried a driver for the new monitor?

Also, I'd suggest downloading the standalone SP3 file rather than installing
via Windows Updates, which is what it sounds like you're doing.

Andrew, Thank you for your help....I tried the devise manager but it only has
this monitor I'm talking about in my post, not the old one. If I try to
update the devise I get the installer error. I called the company that makes
it but it said that as long as it was working fine there was nothing they
could do.

> Thanky ou again for your help and I did try to download that pack but when it was being put on my computer it went fine and then a 3rd party devise thing came up with the same error message as before and it had to abort again. My monitor is a plug n play and doesn't need a driver I guess. I just don't understand this I will probably have to take it into the shop and have someone else try to figure it out. I have had this monitor for 3 yrs. now it has always had the error message but if I clicked it it just went away and I didn't worry about it. Except now I can't get the service pack 3 and I am led to believe I will need it eventually.

"Pack" - do you mean the standalone installer for SP3 that Tim pointed you
to? And you say you tried - did you *succeed* in downloading it completely?

Well, why not just try? It wouldn't hurt, and it might fix (one of?) the
problems you're having. Although you seem to be mix-and-matching the
installation of Service Pack 3 with fitting a new monitor, and I for one am
a tad confused.

Yet you seem certain that your monitor doesn't need a driver? Just head to
the website of the manufacturers of your monitor, find the Support or
Downloads page (or similar), search for your particular model then look for
an XP driver for it.

Try to fix one problem first - I'd suggest the monitor one. Also, research
steps to take before installing XP SP3.
