Post subject: convert fax numbers to canonical format

I have several thousand contacts that i want to import into windows
contacts so i can then do a mass fax using fax and scan. how do i
convert those contacts to canonical format before i import?

Depends entirely on what type of database the contacts are stored, which you
did not mention.
I wouldn't waste too much time on this. WFS will not support faxing to
"several thousand contacts."

Seems to me you would just use a program like Excel to do a basic find and
replace on the CSV file to convert the numbers.
Sending to several thousand recipients is really an enterprise faxing job
that requires a high end fax board and several lines. WFS is designed for
the end user with an analog modem and a single line.
I've never had to deal with enterprise faxing solutions. Andrew Rinaldi (who
posts here) and his colleagues at Mainpine would be the folks I'd ask.
