contacts not recognized when composing mail?

I have just importeed my contacts list from Outlook Express and the list is
available in Windows Mail. When I compose an e-mail to a person on my
contact list, it is not recognized. I have checked the box in the
preferences menu which allows for this. How do I get this to work?

If I understand you correctly, when you try to use the autocomplete of
e-mail addresses it's failing. That's the way it will work till you enter in
a few names. Sort of like haivng to hand crank it to get it started.
