I am receiving dozens of bogus Microsoft update emails every day. For each
one I also receive an email from McAfee VirusScan saying that the attachment
was infected with W32/Swen@MM Virus(es).

Is there anything I can do to stop this junk from cluttering up my inbox.
If I succeed how do I prevent reoccurrence.

Matt

Hi Matt,

You can't stop them, but you can create a rule to mark them as read and move
to the delete folder. Tools/Message Rules/Mail.

Thanks Rick

The problem is that they come from different addresses, with different
subjects etc.

<sent rule creation instructions privately in response to email>

When creating the mail rule, use:

- "where the message body contains"
- "delete it"
- "mark it as read"
- "stop processing more rules"

For the first one, enter this line of text: "latest version of security
update"

Hi Rick

All the bogus messages went straight to delete folder. A couple of dozen
from McAfee warning of the infected files came into my inbox. Thanks for
your help.

Matt
