No audio after xp update

After I have installed the automatic WinXp update, my audio has ceased
working. All my drivers are updated and windows says no error exist in the
setup.

Basicly I installed the updates when promped, restarted the computer as
requested, and my sound just quit working !

I have a HP Pavilion, with no extras ie: just a standard build-in soundcard,
and everything has been working smoothly until now.

The updates are:

- Update for Windows XP (KB927891)
- Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.18.2549.5)

Try reinstalling the driver.

Uninstall the sound card from Device Manager (Start > Control Panel > System
> Hardware > Device Manager).

Restart your system. Click Cancel on the Found New Hardware wizard if it
appears.

Download and install the latest drivers.
