Wireless Network Connection Periodically is Dropped

Thanks for the feedback. I do not know when I will upgrade to Windows 7 so I
hope there is a resolution for the problem with Vista 64

Hi
Make sure that the Router SSID is ON and broadcasting.
Take a look at the Wireless Connection Manger, and make sure that you
connection to your Router is first in line and set to Auto. Connect when
your Wireless is available.

I checked my settings and the router shows that the SSID broadcasting is
enabled (I don't see a setting which says it is either on or off), the
network is in first place whenI look at connect to a network and it is set to
auto.

When I lose the connection and try to connect again - the network shows
still shows up first and it shows a very strong signal (4 or 5 bars) but
still will not connect. Once I reboot there is never a problem connecting.

I say thet the network shows up first but I do notice that there are 2
screens that show me different information. If I go to "manage wireless
connections" my network shows at the bottom of the list but if I go to
"connect to a network" my network show up firat. Which is the one that
really means I have it set properly.

Many people seem to have had this problem with Vista (me included) and it
seems that Vista just "does it" and that there's no solution. Irritating but
nothing that can be done about it.
Win 7 on the other hand has been running on this machine for at least two
months with no wireless drop at all.....

Make sure the computer isn't turning off the device.

Go to start search > type *device* > choose device manager > accept the
UAC > find correct network adapter and double click it or *right click*
then choose *properties* > in this window in the *power* tab, make sure
its not set to turn it off.

The adapter was set to allow it to power off to save power so I unchecked the
box. Thanks for the suggestion, I will keep track to see if problem still
occurs,
