(2) is likely because of (1)...
Three things you should return here with (do not post your product keys
here.)
Use something like Belarc Advisor to obtain the product key that your
installed version of Windows XP is using. Write that down and compare it
with the printers product key you have (either on a sticker on the machine
or on a sticker on the CD case for your copy of Windows XP) - do they match?
Visit
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/ and click on the "Validate Windows"
botton on the left side. Report the results (verbatim) here.
Next visit
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ and click on the "Start
Diagnostics" button on the left. Report the results (verbatim) here.
If all things come out okay (your in-use product key and the one printed on
a sticker for your license of Windows XP match, you pass the validation and
all diagnostics pass) - then we will have a place to start. If they do
not - then we will have a definitive reason.
