Post subject: WOL and Power Saving Modes
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>work_remotely (more info?)

I have WOL implemented in my office and as a part of a green
initiative our IT department has been asked to look at the power
saving modes on the PC. I'm looking at both Standby and Hibernate,
but what I am finding is that no matter which mode I turn on, when the
system goes in to the power saving mode, WOL won't wake it up. I can
however turn the computer off normally and WOL works as it should.
Since I often deploy applications over the weekends by remoting in to
my system, I need to make sure that WOL is working so I can do these
deployments. Is there a way to get WOL to wake up computers in
standby or hibernating?
