Vista install in two partitions on one hard drive

I was wondering if you meant to split a single installation onto two
partitions .. half the installation on one partition while the other half
went on another partition. I don't know the answer to that one.

But you meant dual-boot. Sure. You can dual-boot two installations of Vista
and it is recommended they go on spearate partitions.

The answer to this question is both Yes and No.

Yes you can install a copy of Vista on the same hard drive but on a
different partition.

No you can't install the 'same' copy of Vista on another partition on the
same computer.

If you only have 'one' licenced copy of Vista then you can only install this
copy on your PC (you can't install it twice on two separate partitions). If
you want to install a copy of Vista on Partition 1 and another on partition
2 on the same hard drive (or PC) then you 'must' have two separate product
keys. In other words, if you want two copies of Vista on the same computer
(regardless of whether they are on two separate partitions or two separate
hard drives) you are going to need to buy two copies of Vista.
