Hi everybody,
At the moment I've installed Vista Ultimate x64 Sp2 and on the task
manager I see that the system is using about 1.1 gig of my memory. I
disabled all of the fancy features of vista and using Vista classic
theme. Does anybody have the same problem?
ps. I've 2 gig of ram and quad core processor.

You can disable it in Windows Features. Really most people only use the
snipping tool feature anyways.
But my laptop has 4 gigs also and it used about the same as yours.
Nothing to worry about. Getting it down to 500mb or less would mean
running in safe mode.

Thank you very much CrucialHoax. Due to I've 2 gig of ram and the system
is using 1 gig of it, it doesn't enough for me to work in 3d apps.
Generally I use Max.

Might want to look into a RAM upgrade then. As 2gb of RAM doesn't run
so smoothly on Vista.
P.S. I misread your first post and thought you stated you had -4gb-.

No problem CrucialHoax, it doesn't matter. Actually, you are right, I
should add 2 gig of ram to my pc. But the problem is, in my pc there is
2 gig of ram with speed at 800 mhz. But my mainboard supports 1066 mhz
memory. So, if I add 2 gig of ram(1066 mhz) does it cause any problems?

Yes, always keep ram the same to avoid any issues. So if you have
800mhz now, add a 2gig with a clock speed of 800mhz. If you want to up
it replace -all- of the ram with the 1066mhz kit.

Thank you very much CrucialHoax, you are right. I think 1066 mhz
memories is more faster than 800 mhz memories, isn't it?

I couldn't tell you that honestly. Because it depends on the machine.
Some will work better with certain types of RAM. But theoretically yes,
1066mhz is faster. Maybe someone who knows a little more about RAM can
point you in the right direction.

Seems I am a bit late to the party
Though I have to say, 2gb for Vista, let alone x64 is a bit low. I
suggest you at least upgrade to 4gb.

Open that panel, and in Tools > Options > Opening, unselect
Show input panel tab. If you do this, I suggest selecting
Show input panel icon in taskbar, in case you ever want the
panel sometime in the future. Yes, is there because you have
a Wcom tablet.
Re the memory issue, if your using 64 bit Vista, increase your
RAM to 4GB. It will reduce your stress level. The 1.1GB usage
shown in Task Manager is nominal. If Vista is idle, the total
private working memory for all running processes is in the
area of 410MB, approx. However, the commit set for all
processes will equal the reported physical memory usage.
This can be seen in the memory tab of Task Manager's
resource monitor. The only way to reduce memory usage
is to kill unneeded processes. For example, if you don't
use the sidebar, you could save about 22MB. The problem
is that if you start killing the large system processes, the OS
could crash. |

Hi,
What problem? What you are seeing is quite normal. Vista, like previous
versions of Windows, tries to utilize available memory whereever it can. In
fact, if you aren't using all 2GB of your system memory, then that is wasted
memory. When other processes require memory, the OS should release lower
priority processes to it. Think of it like having x number of seats in your
home. If you only have x-2 people using them, then the difference is wasted
(unused) seating (space). When x+2 people show up, the most important x
people get your attention while the +2 receive less, if they even need it at
all.

Thank you very much everybody! I've closed sidebar and switched to
classic theme. If I switch to Aeroglass, does my system will slow down?
