Whenever I finish remote desktop, it leaves the host display either locked or
back at the Welcome to Windows login. I'm using RDP to load a new powerpoint
presentation and want to be able to start it while remote connected, and
break the connection with the presentation running and visible on the host
monitor.

Any ideas on how to do this?

*If* the user is already logged on and the screen is already visible - you
can use a command-line command to return the session to the local console.

Or... You could start using something like TeamViewer or UltraVNC or
similar.
