I get a message access is denied while trying to install software from the
internet. I got this message several times for different software. When I
checked the event logs I found some errors and warnings that I can't
understand. Can anyone tell me what this means.
Details
Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 4128
Source: Ci
Version: 5.0
Component: Application Event Log
Symbolic Name: MSG_CI_INDEX_DOWNLEVEL_ERROR
Message: Error %1 detected in content index on %2.
Could this be the reason for access denied message. |

Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Users. There is a possiblilty that you will
get stopped if you are not the administrator - that will already give you a clue
about your status. Generally if you are not an administrator or Power User, you
cannot install programs.
If you find yourself as a wrong kind of user, use Ctrl-Alt-Del to Log off and
log on as administrator. Hope you know the password.

Hi
On checking the user account I confirmed tat I am logged on as an
administrator.I do not have multiple accounts on this computer. However, I do
have a home network and this computer is part of a workgroup of computers. I
downloaded two programs on my office computers, I am unable to download these
programs on my home computer. I can still download other programs on my home
computer. On my first attempt to download the two programs I tried to use a
USB device to store the download. When this failed I tried to download the
two programs directly from the internet. I keep getting the same access is
denied message. I tried to use Ashampoo to erase all remnants of my previouse
download attempts but I still get the same result. At this point I do not
know if the problem has to do with my computer configuration or due to the
previouse downloads. The two programs that I am trying to download are The
Vista upgrade advisor, and the Ajax extension of ASP.Net 2.
Thanks for your help
