Hi,
Type or paste the following command in the Start - Run box then press Enter.
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
All About System Restore in WinXP:
http://bertk.mvps.org/index.html
What is the name of the file System Restore is looking for? The exact
message may be helpful.

Do yourself a big favor and follow Bert's advice and then post the
results. He needs more information about the exact nature of the
problem and the command he asked you to run should give him that
information.
Bert is the acknowledged expert with regard to System Restore related
issues.
Good luck

Thank you for running that command.
This is not a common problem. I suspect the rundill32.exe file is infected.
Read this Announcement and follow it's instructions.

Then post a HiJackThis log to this forum.
