After my last automatic Windows (Vista) update, I started getting an error
message when my screen saver started up that said "This screen saver can't
run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compatible with
Direct3D."
This is the same screen saver that worked before the Windows update on 15
November.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I noticed another post on 18
August with the same problem, but did not see a solution. |

Rollback the video driver. Open Device Manager from the start/search box,
expand the display adapter branch. Right click yours and select properties.
On the driver tab, click the rollback button and follow the prompts.

Rick -
Thanks for the message... Unfortunately, "Roll Back" is unselectable, so I
don't think it was necessarily a driver update.

Which brand and model video card are you using? Have you tried going to the
manufacturers website (nVidia or AMD ATI) and download the latest video
drivers for your card.

Hi Paul,
If it wasn't a driver update that caused it, then you need to begin
uninstalling the updates one at a time until it functions normally again.
This is done from the Control Panel/Programs and Features/"View installed
updates" in the Tasks column.
