Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>general (more info?)

I knew about this program for a while as long as one that has saved many
people called totalcopy (not compatible with vista though)

This one seems like it is compatible with vista... I have not tried it yet,
but it seems that this will solve
the DREADED vista copy and move problem...

I will test this later on.. but if you try it please provide feedback with
your experience

see here (free and vista compatible)

http://www.codesector.com/teracopy.asp

TeraCopy is a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum
possible speed, also providing you with a lot of features:
Copy files faster. TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek
times. Asynchronous copy speeds up file transfer between two physical hard
drives.

Pause and resume file transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up
system resources and continue with a single click.

Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and
in the worse case just skips the file, not terminating the entire transfer.

Interactive file list. TeraCopy shows failed file transfers and lets you fix
the problem and recopy only problem files.

Shell integration. TeraCopy can completely replace Explorer copy and move
functions, allowing you work with files as usual.

To further help you all here are 2 screenshots I made (under XP though but
it must be the same under vista also) that show how to use this tool
You can use the RIGHT CLICK and drag and drop files and then when you
release the mouse button
a menu pops up like this:

Or just simply use the context menu (right click)

I will test this under vista too soon..

hope you like.. Smile

Oh do not do them at the same time...

do one type of copy and count the time needed

then try the other type of copy (plain vista kind) and count the time needed

Use the same files and the same location to location in the same direction

then compare the 2 times needed.

That is a better way to compare.

I have not done this yet.. so if you could provide feedback it would be
good...

Stop using other people as YOUR guinea pigs!

Test the software yourself; or are you too gutless?
