I'm helping a friend install a new HD replacing
a crashed drive. I'd appreciate a link to a URL
for downloading SP2 (Not SP3). Thank you.

www.google.com
"xp sp3 download"
<Enter>
First result will do:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=049C9DBE-3B8E...30-8245

Don't really understand why you didn't do something like this yourself. It's
quicker than making your post then waiting and checking for replies!

Post didn't go earlier so this is a repost!

Download Windows XP Service Pack 2 directly from
Microsoft's download site to a newly created folder on your PC.

Olórin

If everyone will do it and find everything themselves then there would be no
newsgroups such as this. Unfortunately it is called "a fact of life "

No newsgroups like this *because* everyone is managing to find their
solutions another way isn't necessarily bad - although it's not going to
happen, IMO.

At least William may now have some idea for a way of finding out answers
more directly and speedily.

You are dead right, Peter but it's beyond some grumpy people. Smile

Please expand on your point, since I'm missing it. You're agreeing that if
EVERYONE looked elsewhere other than these newsgroups for answers, and found
them (which premise I disagree with), then the groups would die out. Well,
if they're not needed - so what?

Sincerely,

Grumpy (apparently)
