Post subject: REMOTE DESKTOP BEHIND A ROUTER
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>work_remotely (more info?)

I have a host computer using Windows XP Sp3 behind a 2-Wire wireless router.
The host is hardwired to the router. When I use my Vista laptop on the LAN,
Remote Desktop works fine. But whenever I attempt to connect via the
internet, I get an error message saying computer cannot connect. In the RDP,
I enter the Public IP for the router and in the user id I enter the host
name\administrator name. Am I using the wrong format? Or am I missing
something else? I have programmed my Windows firewall to allow RDP, and
programmed the router to allow RDP to my host.
