I am having a similar problem with my Custom Built PC. It all started about
2 months ago after downloading either the new Windows Messenger or Hot Fix
Updates....Really not sure. But what I do know is several days after the
download my computer needed to restart and upon restart freezes at the splash
screen. I have done a recover only to get the same thing. I even went as
far to re-install my old upgrade version of XP Home. It all started working
well until I Downloaded SP2 and my history of updates. Upon downloading
several updates and needing to restart, the same thing happened. I am not
sure what Hot Fix or Update is causing it. I do know as well, that since I
re-installed my OS, the Windows Messenger has been trying to re-install but I
wont let it due to suspecting it to be the cause. Though to no avail because
it all started again right after updates.....
Can anyone help me out on this issue.
