Can't Open IE Window from Keyboard or directly from Start ..

Help! Since the last update was installed I can't get an IE window open from
my keyboard internet button. When I go to Start and click on the Internet
icon, I get the Internet Properties box with the General Tab showing. When I
finally get an IE window open I can't open any mulitple IE windows. If I hit
the internet button on the keyboard, it doesn't open another window, it
returns to my home page. I have run all cleaning programs to no avail.
Would so appreciate any and all help!!
