| When using the video and audio tuning wizard, I get an error setting up the camera. It shows the Logitech Quickcam Express, but when I click next the error shows, "Camera Error,..The camera you have selected is not working properly or may be in use by another program". When I click on Web Cam Setting, the picture show just fine. When I go to My Computer and double click on the QuickCam it shows the picture just fine. So, what's my problem? I don't know, except shouldn't the tuning wizard detect and tune the camera as well?

Hello Jonathan,
I just upgraded to 6.1, and had already obtained and installed that latest Logitech driver, 8.1.1. The error says the camera is not working properly, or in use. Clicking on Tools, Web Camera setting brings up the video showing me in the picture. It says if I want to use another camera to use the tuning wizard. So, I'm guessing I'm ready to do video messaging? The in use could be the web cam settings?

Hi JB,
It shouldn't be -- however, if it's working in the "Web Camera Settings", you should be able
to click the "Webcam" button in any conversation window and use your camera, regardless what
the tuning wizard says.

Jonathan, I just had a thought. The driver update file for the QuickCam is 37 MB. I installed it all, which installed the camera as a Web Cam. Had I used WinZip to expand the file, I could have only installed only the drivers to make the camera work. Messenger sees it as a Web Cam, and is using it as such(In Use). Had it been installed as a camera, then the Tuning Wizard could have configured it. This making any kind of sense? Thanks again for your time and help. I'll let you get back to helping people who have real problems:-)

For those who are having the same problem with their Quickcam Express
camera the fix for this problem is to download the patch that is
available on the Logitech website. Go to
Downloads>camera>other>Quickcam Express you will then see the patch
located under Other Downloads for this camera. Hope this helps.
Cheers
Mav.

Here is the direct link to fix the Camera Error: The camera you
selected is not working properly, or may be in use by another program.
Please click Back and try again, or to select a different camera."
that occurs when you try to configure your camera with the Audio and
Video Tuning Wizard included in your video messenging application.
