Waste no more of your life trying to fix the AIOC problem if you have Vista, it will only drive you up the wall.
If you want to scan in pictures use the WIndows Photo Gallery which lets you do it under the File Menu. I wasted hours and hours trying to get both printer and scanner centre to work and its a waste of time. Use the Lexmark for printing and the Photo Gallery for scanning. Take the advice and save your sanity.
