Gentlemen;

I renamed c:\windows\system\drivers\wdf01000.sys
Then I opened explorer and selected Windows Update from the Tools menu.
It installed fine.

QED: Do you use a Microsoft wireless pointing device or keyboard on a
Windows-based computer and was the screen saver not working?

Many thanks, this resolved the problem.

Why do I have to travel from Canada to India to find a clearly written
solution?

Thank you so much! I had been scratching my head (until it bled!) over
this one.

Great post!

P.S. Now, why doesn't our beloved MS answer questions so clearly?!?

I have a similar problem. However, after I run the last update installation
which I can really say it was KB911895 because i couldn't find it on the
history.
My PC is not booting up. I have to do it on safe mode. When i go to Device
Manager i found under HID Human Interface Device a problem. On this devive it
shows the HID Non-User Input data filter (kb911895). I assume is the
installation the it didn't get through. I followed the previous instructions
and I went to Windows\system32\drives and I deleted the file WDF01000.SYS. I
went to update and it was not found it on the list of updated needed.
However, if I uninstall this device and reboot my PC it works but the problem
shows up again on the next rebooting. Anyone knows wo to fix this? By the way
my OS system is XP3.
