Post subject: Internet Sharing (Static IP)
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>networking_sharing (more info?)

Hi...

I am living in a hostel where we have been assigned static IP addresses
with manually configured IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS server. We
need to login to Watchguard Firebox in the browser before we can connect
to the internet. I connect my laptop to the internet through LAN.

I wish to connect my Nokia E63 with the laptop over wifi so as to
connect to the internet. I cant get a Sharing tab on LAN adapter's
properties so ICS cant be enabled. As per some sites, its due to manual
settings of IP.

Please help me configure Internet sharing between laptop and mobile...
I am using Vista Home Basic.

Thanks,
Neo

Hi
Assuming that you know that your Nokia is capable for such configuration, I
think you should talk to the person in charge of the Internet service at the
Hostel. It might be that there is a setting in the Firebox that blocks
Sharing.
Regular ICS,
