Hi - Why does the volume control keep disappearing from my taskbar?

When I go to Control Panel -->Sounds, The 'Place volume control Icon in the
taskbar' is still always ticked, so I untick --> apply retick --> Apply & it
reappears only to disppear sometime later.

In Taskbar Properties --> Customise, the volume control is set to 'Always
Show'.

Thanks - Puzzled - Richard

Are you sure it really disappears? If you have your task bar set to hide
little or unused icons, the volume control would be hidden if not clicked
for some while. Try clicking the '<' symbol next to the notification area
(aka the 'system tray'). If it's there then right click the task bar,
select 'properties' then the 'Customize' button and set volume control to
'Always Show'.

HTH.
