I have recently put an AMD Opteron 180 onto my motherboard and decided to
reinstall my copy of Freelancer. The first thing I noticed was that it wanted
to install the game on a server and there was nothing listed to just load it
as on a
computer. When I tried to play the game a message popped up saying "Please
insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application." It doesn't
matter if I start the FL Server or not, I keep getting the same message. Any
Help would be appreciated

Hi Zeph. I found the same error in Medevil 2. And I corrected it. I play
a few games and one asked if I should have auto play play enhanced content
every time.
After selecting this option, Medevil2 would not have the cd recognized. Your
error sounds like it might be same culprit. Try going into auto play options
and set enhanced audio to ask me option. My big problem in running freelancer
is that the graphics go nuts at the menu page. Sort of a triangular graphics
lightshow going on.

I know this is an old thread, but theres a lot of Vista users having problems with installing and working Freelancer as well as getting online. This is due to the "increased" security of Vista.
We have a Vista knowledgebase for getting Freelancer players working the game and getting online for multiplayer. Please check the link if you need help.
