Expanding problem too

Can I get a strait answer for this problem?

What causes this?

I've explanations ranging from pull out EVERYTHING other than case fans
(exaggeration) to performing voodoo on the machine (not an
exaggeration).

Seems like people take the easy way out and say "check your mobo forum"
or just stop replying to peoples posts.


No wonder Vista is such a terrible OS when so many people can't even
get it installed!

So I ask again Vista guru's...what causes the expanding files hang, and
or general installation hangs?

If you want more specific, use my example:

Fresh install on new partition, purchased disc of 64 ultimate. It takes
FOREVER to move from one screen to the next in the installation
manager...even getting it initialized takes 5-10 mins. it hangs at 0%
even though my HD and DVD drive are going nuts.

please help.
