Please help me !
I have just bought a notebook Amilo Pa 3515, preinstalled with Vista.
But I want to remove Vista, and reinstall XP.
Impossible : while installing, when XP reboots, all stops with an error
message (hard disk misconfigured, fdisk /?, etc. )
How to solve this problem ? New computers preinstalled with Microsoft
Vista become harder and harder to use with freedom ! At home, I am no
longer my proper master, but Mr Gates controls my rights and life !

You're doing it wrong. A downgrade is not possible. You have to clean
install Vista and that means you have to boot from the Vista DVD.
Bear in mind, however, that your laptop's manufacturer may not have
drivers for your laptop available for XP, and if try to install it
without first making sure the drivers exist, you may find yourself up
the creek without a paddle.

I completely disagree with you, but what operating system you prefer
is your choice.

And of course I also meant "to clean install XP."

Sorry, I don't like Vista. I remarked that Linux Mandriva runs pretty
good with that computer...
I have a solution : virtualization with VirtualBox for Windows XP, or
2000, or even 98 !
I have converted a laptop Acer preinstalled with Vista to XP, but I must
change the Bios to succeed between the multiples obstacles Mr Bill Gates
places on our way, limiting our freedom.

No need to be sorry. You have a right to your likes and dislikes, and
I wasn't trying to talk you into anything. As I said "what operating
system you prefer is your choice."
The only reason I replied to you was to point out that your plan of
switching to XP may not be possible because the needed XP drivers for
your laptop may not exist.

IIRC these laptops have SATA disks.
You need to go into the BIOS settings, and chence the disk access-method
from SATA native mode (AHCI) to legacy IDE mode.

*I* need to into the BIOS? No, I don't; I'm not the one with the
problem. Please be careful to reply to the correct message in the
thread.
