Post subject: Change keyboard settings

I`ve just recieved a new computer XP home SP2 and the keyboard displays the
wrong characters. If I press the @ key I get this " and if I press the pound
key I get this #. How do I find out what my keyboard settings are and how do
I change It to United Kingdom If that`s what I need to do. I went to control
panel and clicked on keyboard properties but was no help.
Thanks for any advice

Answered in another newsgroup. Please do not send the same message
separately to more than one newsgroup (called multiposting). Doing so just
fragments the thread, so someone who answers in one newsgroup doesn't get to
see answers from others in another newsgroup. And for those who read all the
newsgroups the message is multiposted to, they see the message multiple
times instead of once (they would see it only once if you crossposted
instead).

If you must send the same message to more than one newsgroup, please do so
by crossposting (but only to a *few* related newsgroups).

Sorry I didn`t mean to cross post but the first one I posted didn`t show up
for a while and I was in a bit of a panic. Thanks for your help every one,
now fixed I think:-) I expect I`ll be back for more help in the near future,
I`ve just migrated from win98se which
i`ve been using for the last 6 years.

You didn't crosspost, you multi-posted. Crossposting, if it's not excessive,
is fine; it's multiposting that's the problem, as I tried to point out
