WinXP,home, sp2, have a theme set where active window bar is green and
inactive is red. Also taskbar is grey. About once or twice a day when
booting up these change to what I believe to be the default, dark blue.

This necessitates going into control panel/display/themes and changing
to another theme which also has the proper colors, then back again. All
is then OK until it reoccurs. Or it can be left in the other theme and
the same occurs.

This has been going on for about a year and I can't associate it with
any program install or upgrade. Any clues for a remedy would be
appreciated.

The features you describe only work with the Windows Classic theme.

I neglected to mention that Appearances is set for Windows Classic
Style. However, I'm not using the Windows Classic Theme; what is being
used is one of several themes I've devised and named. (Most are the
same, with different dates when they were modified -- perhaps it started
off with Classic and I modified?)

For the first time I just tried Win Classic theme and see that the
taskbar is grey, not blue, but the bars at the top, active and inactive
are blue. Interesting that a few weeks ago I observed someone else's
machine who said theirs also annoyingly sometimes opens with a blue
taskbar. However, that was in Thailand, and I can't recall who it was
in order to gain more input.
