Post subject: Auto disconnect
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>performance_maintenance (more info?)

If Iam downloading files from the internet and I leave my machine for a
while,When I return it has automatically disconnected from the internet.
My question is how do I stop this automatic disconnection so I can download

Control Panel > Internet Options > Connectons Tab > Highlight your connection
click on settings > Advanced > Uncheck both diconnect boxs > OK all the way
through

You can also try:
Windows might be turning off your network adapter to save power. Turn off
the power-saving option in the network adapter's properties (wired network
adapters only):


1.

Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start
button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking
Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
2.

Right-click the connection, and then click Properties. Administrator
permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or
confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3.

On the Networking tab, click Configure.
4.

On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow the computer to turn off this
device to save power check box, and then click OK.
