You mention that there are multiple users on the machine and you do not want to set
up a network, that leads me to conclude that it isn't on a network. Even though it's
insignificant that it isn't networked because problems are caused both ways in XP
Home. Since it appears that, as long as the file(s) are not in Traceys profile
folder everyone can acces the file(s), and if they are in Traceys profile folder the
file(s) cannot be accessed. This indicates that the file sharing permissions for
Traceys profile folder is set at a stricter level than all of the other users and
their folders if they have shared folders.
If Tracey is the only one allowed access even though the folder is shared, the
folder is most likely shared at the Administration level and since it is in Traceys
Profile, Tracey is the only one that can access it. A folder shared at the Admin
level has a $ sign preceding the share name which makes it a "hidden" share that only
the owner/user of that profile can access.
If you conduct a web search using: sharing tab missing in safe mode xp home you
will find quite a bit of information on it, some will definitely be redundant but you
will definitely get a better understanding on the issue.
