Post subject: How to orphan a subdirectory in briefcase
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>basics, others (more info?)

Hi

Trying to use briefcase to synchronise a largish tree of working files --
however I would like to split various subdirectories from the orginal so
that any changes to files in these subdirectories are discarded. When I
select split from original I get the message:

'folder' is already an orphan. The folder will not be updated in the future.

even though this is the very fist split from original attempt (but same on
repeated splits). However, after this is completed and despite the
reassuring message, Briefcase -> Update All still attempts to replace the
original copy with the modified offline copy of files in the briefcase.

What do I need to do to orphan entire subdirectories or is this not possible
using briefcase -- I have XP Home on my laptop so offline files is not an
option.

Cheers
Steve
