Post subject: laptop screen will not restart after closing screen
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>general (more info?)

I've been having the following problem with my laptop:

When logged in, I usually just close the laptop to store until next use.
When I am ready to use again, I open and hit spacebar. Usually everything
comes back for me. Now, when I open and hit spacebar, the lights on the top
function keys come on, the fans and drives are spinning, but the monitor
never comes up.

My solution right now: press and hold the power button for a few seconds so
it kills all power. Then press power button again and computer restarts.
Now, it even takes 2-3 times of doing this to get computer to boot up.

Any ideas for fixes to this problem?

Right click on your desktop and select properties then click on the
screen saver tab. On the bottom right you will see a power button,
click on it and that will take you to power options properties.
Select the advanced tab and under the "when I close the lid" menu
select do nothing.
