You have posted this same questions several times in the past couple of
days. In know I responded at least once with a suggestion. It does not
help, and is actually counterproductive, to continue to post the same
question in new threads. What was the outcome of you trying the tips I and
others suggested?

If you can't find your past messages search for them using Google Groups
Advanced Search searching on your name as author. This newsgroup is
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

Hi buffalo,

You may want to try this tweak:

Repair Icon View
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

#4 on the left-hand side.

Rock,

You have not responded with an answer that I can see.
Only one person responded.

Now, consider yourself advised that there have been problems with Usenet
recently.

Are you so ignorant as to ASSume that because one asks a question about a
problem that they are having with windows, that
they don't know where they are posting?

Are you so ignorant as to ASSume that because one asks a question about a
problem that they are having with windows, that
they don't know how many times that they have posted?

Are you so ignorant as to ASSume that because one asks a question about a
problem that they are having with windows, that
they don't even realize just what newsgroup that they are reading your
arrogant little reply?

Are you so ignorant as to ASSume that because one asks a question about a
problem that they are having with windows, that
they don't know that there is a search engine named Google?

Are you so ignorant as to ASSume that because one asks a question about a
problem that they are having with windows, that
they can't understand that if the one reply had worked, that I wouldn't be
posting again?

Now, take your condescending attitude on try it on someone else that you
think that you be able to impress.

A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.

I made no assumptions, nor do I have any idea if you're having problems with
Usenet, I have not. I said "_if_ you can't find a post" search for it using
Google Groups Advanced Search.

But I do know that reposting the same question without indicating it's a
second or third post, and without indicating the outcome of the suggestions
supplied by other respondents in previous posts, is counter productive.

You waste your time and time of the other respondents. Maybe someone else
will help with your problem. I'm done with this thread.

Rock gave you excellent advice and tried to help you. You apparently want to
consider his advice as a personal attack on you (and it's nothing at all
like that, as I read his message).

That's fine. You may take his advice (and my comment here) any way you want
to. But don't be surprised if nobody wants to help you with your problems
when you exhibit an attitude like that. I know I won't.

That is good, Rock.

I would never want you to expound further.

As I said before, if I no longer had the problem, I wouldn't have posted
again.

Your thinking is that posting again is counterproductive. My thinking is
that, unless it is to the point of incessant posting, it gives others who
may not have seen the original, a chance to see it. That, and especially
since Usenet has had problems.

My suggestion to anyone is to not lecture or tell folks things other than
what would pertain to their problem/question.

Now, I, too, am through with you.

Thank you, Curt.

I had not seen that 'tweak' before. I will give it a try and report back.

Thanks for your help.

Tried it and the problem is still with me.

Yes, I tried it and no, it didn't work.

Thanks for your interest.
