It looks like you have 2 accounts, with only partial settings in each.
Delete one of them.

You have the outgoing server name messed up. It should be SMTP.AOL.COM, not
just "aol"
Tools - Accounts - your aol account - Properties - Server

and the port needs to be changed to 587
Tools - Accounts - your aol account - Properties - Advanced

I tried what you said and it says
The host 'aol' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.
Subject 'paid training', Account: 'aol', Server: 'aol', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

now when i go to tools, accts, it shows 2 emails aol's as default and then
imap.aol.com. can you please help.

Make sure the account settings agree with this:
http://www.postmaster.aol.com/imap/express.html

The error message indicates that the name of the outgoing mail server is
wrong. It should be smtp.aol.com.

I am also getting the same error message. Has anyone come up with a solution?

That would depend on your ISP is. Each ISP has their own mail servers.
Check your ISP's website for instructions, or tell us who your ISP is
and we can look it up for you.

If you have a US-based free Yahoo account, it has web access only,
no POP access, which means you can't use Windows Mail.
If you are not US-based, let us know which country.

Premium (paid) US accounts do have POP access, and the settings
for that are here:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-08.html

Ask your mail provider which you should use and what the settings should be.

Each e-mail provider has their own mail servers. Check your provider's
website for instructions, or alternatively, tell us who your e-mail provider
is, and we can look up that information for you.
