computer freezes after runescape played on it

The 10 and 12 year old grandsons spent a week playing runescape on my
Windows XP PC, 2-5 hours at a time. They've gone now, but problems
remain. The computer freezes without warning and the graphics get
muddled. E.G. sometimes there are two images of the desktop on the
screen.

I won't be playing any more games, but want my computer back in
business order. That is, I have to access the Internet constantly,
check email, do word processing, etc.

I deleted the temporary Internet files and defragmented the disk, but
the problems remain.

Can anyone suggest what I should do now?

Since that problem just started happening recently, try a System Restore.
