Hi,

As a total newcomer to Windows Vista (6 days and counting) I am still
fwwling my way around - and getting lost! When I first got the machine
(Toshiba A100 with Windows Vista Home Basic) I discovered a pleasing piece of
eye candy in the 'Radar' display of available wireless netwoks. I see, to
remember this was accessed by a button labelled 'Radar', on a dialouge
somewhere, but also seem to re,eber accessing it from an icon in the system
tray. However, I have now lost it completely.

I can get a list view of availble networks and succesfully connect to them
but I did like the Radar display. Can anyone please tell me how/where to
find this lovely little toy?

Many Thanks

Essenby,

Thanks for your post! Vista still shows the wireless strength, and in much
the same way we did in XP. First, if you hover over the networking icon in
the tray, you will see a fly-out which displays the strength of the network
you're connected to.

If you'd like to see the strengths of all available wireless networks, then
right click on the network icon in the tray and select "Connect to a
network...". The dialog that opens up shows you all available networks, and,
if wireless, the strengths of each one (as well as the SSID and security for
each). The "Show" drop down lets you filter out types of networking.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that Kim but it's not what I'm looking for. As I said. I can see
that list and connect to the networks shown. What I was looking for was the
new Vista 'Radar' prsentation of the list. It's a transparent app.
dsiplaying concentric circles with you at the centre and available networks
are diplayed as dots which fly in and out as they appear/dissappear.
Hovering over the dots pops up the network details. Very cute to look at
and very annoying now I can't find it again!

Hi, I also purchased a Toshiba and I think that the radar deal is a Toshiba
program, well anyways I always can bring it up by double clicking the
wireless connection icon in your lower right screen. (It is a Globe with a
little computer in front of it) That will bring up the Toshiba connectivity
doctor- automatically you should see the button for RADAR. Hope this helps,
later.

Googled for "Toshiba wireless netwrok radar" and found this:-
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/Contents/Toshiba_teg/EU/WORKSHO...iles/Te

No wonder I coudn't find any reference to "RADAR" in the Vista forums!
Thanks for your help!
