Hi Kathy,
Here is my fix if you haven't found one already. It involves
downloading the core components for MS Agent, and then copying a dll to
the Windows\System32 folder.
For really technical details:
'How to get the Office Assistant (Office 2003) to work in Windows
Vista, i.e. remove the \"Not enough memory\" error messages - David
Overton's Blog' (http://tinyurl.com/3duda9)
I am running Vista Home Premium as an Administrator, on a new HP
laptop. I installed Office 2003 Professional. I had the same error and
knew it wasn't a true memory issue as I have 4 gig. I was not able to
follow David's instructions exactly (not sure if this is an HP oddity),
but my command prompt did not look like what was expected, and I didn't
get security prompts. I didn't want to mess with the command prompt, or
the registry. :frown:
So instead here is how I fixed it using David's instructions as a
guide.
Downloaded the Microsoft Agent core components from: 'Microsoft Agent
downloads for end-users'
(look for the link 'Download the Microsoft Agent core components (395
KB exe)')
Right clicked on Start button to Explore.
Manually copied Agentdpv.dll from c:\windows\msagent\ to
c:\windows\system32\
Opened Word.
Clicked Show the Office Assistant and voila it worked. I was able to
change the assistant and have not had any problems.
Hope this helps for people who don't want to mess about with the
registry or the command prompt.
