I just installed XP Home (SP2) on an older machine with a P4 (1.3), 384 meg
ram, GeForce 5200FX and have a problem when I attempt to right click my
desktop to change properties. It freezes for about 20 seconds, then goes
"back to normal." I never get a context menu to choose from.

Anyone ever heard of this issue?

Thanks!

This could be caused by an ill behaving context menu entry. See this link:

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers

Rock,

Thanks for the reply. I will give "Method 1" a shot.

Since my original post, however, I've discovered the problem is much deeper
than just the context menu issue. When I open Windows Explorer and try to
click "FILE," I get the same behavior...20-30 seconds of freezing, shuts down
Explorer, gives me a blank screen, then returns to normal after a few more
seconds.

Thoughts?

Thanks again!
