When HT CPU is activated in BIOS, causes keyboard to mess ..

Power off pc,remove battery,move the CMOS jumper pin from 1-2 to 2-3
position for .45 seconds or so,then back to 1-2,replace battery,start
pc.You'll
need to reset basic BIOS settings before the OS will start.Also,update youre
chipset installation utility,and thier is a dual-processor fix for xp,its

No need to do that with Windows XP. Nor was it needed with Windows
2000, with Windows 2000 you simply have to change the HAL in the device
manager, with XP this is supposed to be done automatically when adding a
second processor. The OP could verify that the hal is a multiprocessor
type but a reinstall should not be necessary to change it if necessary.
Only a change to a different type of HAL requires a reinstall, moving
from single to multi-processors does not entail a change of hal type.

This is a fresh install of XP since nothing else worked to get the HT active
(outside of safe mode) w/o a fresh install. All the updates are current.

I have the latest chipset drivers and BIOS is behaving as it's suppose to so
I'm not too keen on resetting to basic BIOS. I've already installed the
kb896256 update.
