I think I found it -
seems like AVG anti-spyware is playing up !
....perhaps mines damaged, or buggy update perhaps.

This appears to be related to a program called wmiprvse.exe trapping an
exception when a piece of software tries to access a CD/DVD drive when there
is no medium present. Don't know which program is causing the error, but have
found that leaving a DVD in the drive on my Media Center stops the error
appearing.

WINDOWS - NO DISK
Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 475b6bf9c
75b6bf9c

I am getting the same error anytime I launch Norton Ghost. Ghost was
working now suddenly I am getting the error. I have tried putting a CD
in the CD/DVD drive but that does not help. I only have a hard drive,
CD/DVD, External Sea Gate Drive, and several internal card readers.
Ghost does read the drives at start up so I know it is related to one
of the drives, just no idea which one or how to problem solve.

Any suggestions?

I started having the problem yesterday when tried to use quick time
for the first time in a week or so. Plus a couple other video-related
programs that trigger it.

A lot of people seem to be having this poblem with different programs.
Even people who re-installed XP.

I assume Microsoft is working on a patch for this asap?

Some of us have work to do! Thanks

Interesting that people are finding this one hard to pin down, that is to
say - suspecting a range of different things Smile
For the past few days on my PC, I've been suspecting that it's a
drive:\pathname to to a Word document on a USB pen-drive - ( drive N:\ in
my case ) ...for which I have a Quick Launch icon. ...I was suspecting that
XP didn't like there being no such drive lettter allocated until I plugged
in the pen-drive. If I clear the "recently used documents list" at Start |
Settings | Taskbar and Start Menu | Start Menu tab | Custonize (Classic
Start Menu) | Clear
....the problem seems to go away, however, I'm not sure about that !! Smile

regards, Richard

I had this exception coming from the time of booting and stays on..
with some help from my pal who recovered from the same prob, we found
that after installing kaspersky antivirus and scanning, it identified
a trojan 'scvhsot.exe' in teh system folder. On dleteing this file,
and rebooting ,the exception stops coming. Also, remember to empty the
autorun.inf files of all ur drives, cause the files specifiy sss.exe
to be opened, and i presume this sss.exe is causing the exception.
kaspersky identifies all these. so jus install and let it identify.
To find the autorun.inf u can use 'ava find Professional'. Remember to
change file permissions to enable u to delete the contents of the
autorun.inf files, once u empty all the autorun.inf of all ur drives,
reboot.. u shudn't be having a problem, tell me if it works.
