I have a Dell laptop that has been working for over a year. It is setup with
3 ids, Admin, Tony and Guest. About two months ago after it went into sleep
mode (not gracefully I might add) I could no longer login in as Tony. It
would allow me to put in my password, take me to the desktop and as soon as
it brought up my McAfee anti-virus software, it would go into a blank screen.
Only way to recover was to turn off laptop. I could then login with Admin
or Guest but not as Tony. Last night the same thing happened to my laptop.
Was on battery and laptop died before I could plug it in. Now when I login as
Admin, same results. Gets to the same point as with Tony and blank screen.
Not blue screen. Blank black screen. I can still login as Guest. I'm going
to try Safe Mode and see if I can login with either of those accounts. My
hunch is my Profiles for those IDs have become corrupt but it gives me no
message although one time after using Admin for a month or so, it did prompt
me to rebuild profiles or something. Can't recall syntax.... but that didn't
resolve my issues. Any ideas? |

Hello,
My name is Richard; I work for Dell's Online Community Outreach group.
I see that you posted on the 25th of May, were you able to enter safe
mode as the Admin since you last posted?
If you were unable to log into safe mode as the admin then
unfortunately Windows is in real trouble. You could try a repair but
there is no way of knowing if the same issue would appear again unless
we know what caused this problem.
Please update the status of your computer issue. Thanks!
Regards,
Richard B

I can get into SafeMode no problem. So I created two more ids with Admin
prev. and can login into those with no problems. So I'm kinda ok now but
still can't use the other ids that seem to be messed up when logging in.
Thanks for reading my post and offerring assistance.
